Artist Bio
Welcome to Miami! The streets are beautiful but subtle, the beaches and sunny weather attract the most powerful people in entertainment, across the bridge is a vast concrete jungle filled with those who dream, but few who live their dreams. Many have lost their lives chasing that dream, dying while doing what they truly love, dying for what they believe. The love of music… it is a side of this wonderful city that is rarely exposed to the rest of the world. But, then I ask; what is a dream without sacrifice? It is nothing else but just a mere dream.
There is one aspiring artist/producer who has given himself as well as his time and talent to chasing and realizing his dreams as he continued to contribute and work with some of the best artists in the Miami music scene, both mainstream and underground, while doing shows in the most gutter nightclubs, stripjoints, city wide open mic showcases, etc… at the same time. From Sean Kingston (formerly known as Franchise Da Kid, before his deal), Zoe Pound Ent., Billy Blue (Now inked to Interscope/ Mosley music/ KonLive/ Poe Boy), KYmani Marley (The son of reggae legend Bob Marley) Swagger wireless (Ringtone record company founded by Hip Hop Moguls and Roc A Fella Rec. owners Brian Burkes and Jay-Z), Poe Boy Ent (home to Rick Ross, Brisco etc…) TrackDilla (music producer for Busta Rhymes and Flipmode Squad) Champ Jitta (Rising star from Atlanta now inked to Atlantic Rec.) Redd Eyezz (now inked to the WEA label) Domenique Nicole (all star champion of BET’s Wild Out Wednesdays 2007), the late Static Major (Songwriter for Aalyiah, Ginuwine, Timbaland), Pretty Rickie, Dj M. Dot, (Official Dj for the Florida Marlins, Jamie Foxx) and many more local acts. All are different artists/producers with different genres of music, but they all have one common thing. They have all worked with ROBB HOOD.
Born in the third world country of Haiti, Raised in the heart of Miami, and reps the hood of Opa Locka. Robb Hood has always been known for his love and talent in music. From producing and writing, he is known to bring out the best in an artist no matter what type of music. His journey began in 1999, after discovering his gift in building tracks and writing lyrics on them.
In the year 2002, Accompanied by a close friend, Robb Hood then began to attend all the music seminars that were taking place in the Florida area, and even sneaking in, multiple times at the Source Awards ceremonies which used to take place in Downtown Miami. Passed out many copies of his very first Mixtape titled Krytikal Breakdown. Which was also backed up by a small record label and released 2000 copies of it.
In 2005, Robb Hood founded the Miami Based Record label named Black Authority Music. Under that imprint, he produced and released his very first radio single titled Move That Ass. The record went city wide and was very successful in the local night and strip clubs. After meeting with Miami Heat’s Dj Irie, the record was now on the biggest hip hop and R&B radio station in south Florida, 99 jamz. A week after, the song took off and other dj’s began playing it. By the end of the year, the single was on rotation on the cable network Music Choice hip hop, rap and R&B channel, and also was happily received by the city of Amsterdam, where it became the song of the week on a radio station named Reflexx FM, program director Jimmy Evans.
By Spring of 2006, Robb Hood produced and released his second official mixtape titled The Night Miami Died Vol. 1 Hosted by Dj M. DOT under the Black Authority Music imprint. After heavy promotion both in the streets of Miami and online, 3,000 copies were sold as a result, as well as 2,500 downloads on DatPiff.com, 1,400 downloads on Myspace Mixtape Player. The Night Miami Died became a hood classic, and Robb Hood had once again proven his skills, that he will be a force to be reckoned with in Hip Hop music. He was able to accomplish all this while producing Hits for acts like Zoe Pound, Redd Eyezz, Neo Brown, pretty Rickie, and Domenique Nicole, who went on BET’s Wild Out Wednesdays and became the All Star champion after performing the song “Work My Body” produced by Robb Hood.
Summer of 2008, Robb Hood produced and released the local smash hit “I Go 4 Mine”. The song received great reviews online by some of the best dj’s in the country, Robb Hood was the number one artist in the un signed chart on Myspace.com. the single received rotation on 99 Jamz by Dj Griot and program Director Shelby Rushin, It was the most requested and played song on underground radio stations in the city. After receiving such love, Robb Hood decided that he will continue to push the single until it takes the south by storm.
Today, Robb Hood is working on brand new projects, producing for different artists, preparing himself for what is to come, for what is promised, and one thing is certain; He is not coming to follow in others footsteps, but to set his own prints on the sand of History… I GO 4 MINE!
